Prototype — questions not yet reviewed by a certified expert. The 25 diagnostic questions are original and were written to the American Welding Society's published CWI test specifications, but no Certified Welding Inspector has checked them yet, so they may contain errors. We plan to pay a currently certified CWI or SCWI to review the questions once enough preorders come in, and before launch.

A Part C code-navigation guide: how to find qualification, fabrication, and inspection requirements quickly in your chosen codebook. We do not reproduce code text; use the code edition AWS specifies for your exam (printed or, for some Prometric exams, an on-screen PDF provided at testing).

How the questions will be checked

Today: not reviewed. The free diagnostic is a prototype.

Before launch (planned): a currently certified CWI or SCWI, paid by us, reviews the questions for technical accuracy against AWS's published test specifications. We will only name a reviewer publicly with their written permission.

All questions are original. We do not use, collect, or buy actual exam questions or exam booklet content. CWI candidates agree to keep exam content confidential, and we respect that agreement.

How the $49 preorder works

Preorder for $49 on Gumroad, which processes the purchase as our reseller and merchant of record. We never see your card number.
We email you progress updates.
At launch, you pay the launch price minus $49 to get access (at the planned , that is $130 more), or you take a full refund.
Before launch, you can ask for a full refund at any time by emailing .

Refund policy (summary)

Before launch: full refund of your $49 on request, any time.
If launch is late: if we haven't launched within 30 days after the target launch date shown when you preordered (target: ), we refund you automatically unless you tell us you want to keep your preorder.
At launch: if you neither complete your purchase nor ask for a refund within 14 days of our launch notice email, we refund your $49 automatically.
After launch: full refund within 14 days of purchase.
Refunds are issued through Gumroad to your original payment method.

FAQ

Is this official American Welding Society material?

No. TrueLine Prep is independent and unofficial. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the American Welding Society (AWS). For official exam information, go to aws.org.

Does this cover Part B (Practical)?

No. Part B is a hands-on exam. The planned product focuses on Part A, with a code-navigation guide for Part C.

Do I need the codebook?

For Part C you need to work in the code AWS lists for your exam. AWS's CWI Examination User Guide (09.04.2026) says printed copies are not permitted for certain Prometric exams, where the code is provided as an on-screen PDF. We don't include code text.

Have the questions been reviewed by an expert?

Not yet. The current diagnostic is a prototype. We plan to pay a certified expert to review the questions before launch.

Are these real exam questions?

No. All questions are original and written to AWS's published test specifications. Real exam content is confidential, and we don't use it.

Will this tell me whether I'll pass?

No. The diagnostic shows your readiness by content area so you can prioritize your study. It doesn't predict an exam result.

Do I need an account for the free diagnostic?

No. Entering your email is optional.
